Spend Time in Meditation

Retreat is about taking time to let go of things from our normal, daily activities. In retreat, we create space to meditate and within that spacious environment, we focus on Buddha’s teachings with a feeling of happiness and joy. We make a strong determination to enjoy meditation, without grasping at results and expectations. KMC-LI schedules several retreats every year both for beginners and more experienced practitioners with the purpose of taking the teachings to heart and giving plenty of time to contemplate deeply.

Our half-day “Silence is Golden” retreat, offered 2-3 times a year, on a single day from 10am – 3:30pm provides students with a taste of silent retreat while taking meaningful objects such as the nature of the mind, tranquil abiding, and love as objects of our meditation.

Other regular retreats offered at KMC-LI include a three-day retreat with four sessions per day leading up to Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s birthday in early June and 24-hour Green Tara retreats (with sessions every four hours) in reverence to the female enlightened Buddha known for her swift compassion and rescuing abilities to help us dispel obstacles in our lives. We also hold brief retreats following our Blessing Empowerments which focus primarily on drawing closer and cultivating the enlightened qualities of a particular Buddha.

Retreat is a gift you give to yourself and others because the time spent meditating and contemplating helps you advance and make progress in your practice. It serves to balance our subtle inner energy winds, leading to more peaceful minds.
